KBP provides up to 3 days of paid time off in the event of the death of an immediate family member. Immediate family members are defined as the following: spouse, child, parent, brother, sister, grandparent (including in-laws), grandchild, legal guardian; stepparent, stepchild, stepbrother, stepsister; father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law.

Paid bereavement must be used within 14 days from the date of death. Bereavement pay is not included as hours worked for overtime purposes.

The hours paid under this policy may not exceed those regularly scheduled for the employee on the affected days. Proof of familial relationship may be required before bereavement time is paid under this policy.
