KBP has established guidelines for the safe operation of personally owned vehicles (POV) used in the course of KBP business.

All drivers of POVs must meet the following standards in order to operate a POV for KBP business, including catering delivery.

  • Minimum age is 18 or state minimum, whichever is higher.
  • Maintain a Valid Driver’s License.
  • Maintain liability insurance on POV that provides such coverage as is required by the law of the state in which business is conducted and provide valid proof of insurance on the POV.
  • POVs must meet state vehicle safety regulations.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record.

Drivers will:

  • Refrain from texting and driving.
  • Follow state specific driving requirements.
  • Always wear a seatbelt and comply with all traffic regulations.
  • Not use headphones or earphones.
  • Use hands free calling when operating the vehicle.
  • Report any accident or traffic violation while driving on Company business, regardless of fault or accident severity.
  • Do not drive with a suspended or revoked license.
  • Do not possess alcohol or illegal drugs on your person or in your POV.
  • Do not drive any POV vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
  • Do not drive any POV vehicle for business related reasons other than the POV which the employee has provided proof of insurance.

For Accidents while operating a POV for KBP business:

  • Any employee who is involved in an accident while conducting KBP business which results in personal injury or property damage of any kind, must notify the police and supervisor as soon as reasonably possible.
  • The accident must be reported to the Human Resources department within 24 hours of the accident, or as soon as reasonably possible.

Employees are responsible for reporting any accident to their insurance carrier and should follow the accident reporting procedures accordingly.

Motus Users

In addition to the above, Motus users must also adhere to processes and controls to ensure valid driver’s licenses, liability insurance, and remittance of business mileage to substantiate automobile allowances. These processes and controls are in place to protect the organization and mitigate risk. See the Personal Transportation Motus Addendum for details.
