Recognition

At KBP Brands, we value and appreciate the dedication and commitment of our employees and have worked hard to build and maintain a culture where employees feel appreciated and recognized. As such, this policy provides a framework and a summary of recognition programs at KBP. Recognition is not limited to the monetary components outlined below and should be given in various forms such as verbal praise, written appreciation, certificates, and awards.

Framework
A framework is provided to ensure there is alignment with our business, culture, and talent goals, and to ensure KBP is driving change and performance through consistent reinforcement of desired behaviors and actions.

At KBP recognition is a tiered approach, ranging from the most common forms of recognition to the most prestigious recognition, the annual Top 10 Trip.

Recognition graph
    Tier 1
The most common form of recognition is employee-based recognition which is embedded in the KBP culture of recognition.
      Service Anniversaries
KBP plans to introduce a formal program to recognize Restaurant General Managers and above and home office employees who achieve service anniversary milestones at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years. More communication will be provided when details are available.

      Birthdays
Above restaurant leaders and home office employees receive a gift on their birthday on behalf of the company.

      Significant Life Events
Certain life events deserve to be recognized with flowers. Each year a budget is allocated for floral purchases for special occasions directly related to the employee. Examples of life events include, but are not limited to, wedding celebration, adoption, birth of a child, or the loss of an immediate family member. This is managed and executed by the executive assistant for each brand.

    Tier 2
Leaders recognizing an employee is a critical aspect of motivating a team. Providing positive feedback on the desired behaviors and accomplishments is important to a high performing team. The following are approved reasons to celebrate and recognize our employees:

      Everyday Recognition
      1. Behaviors reflecting one of our four values:
        • Win for each other – Remembering that every success is for “We” not “Me.”
        • Lead from anywhere – Every person can lead and make decisions for growth.
        • Do the right thing – For the business, the community, and each other.
        • Fight for great – Good is the natural enemy of Great. Never settle.
      2. Behaviors reflecting advocacy for or on behalf of a minority group by speaking up for those that feel as though they cannot speak for themselves or may not have the courage to do so.

      Field Employees
Tango is an online gift card platform that makes rewarding employees in real time simple, yet personal [see job aid for additional information and instructions]. Tango is the only method a leader should use to award monetary recognition to restaurant employees. Tango gives the employee flexibility to choose from hundreds of gift cards for immediate use.

KBP will fund an amount monthly for each above restaurant leader to use to recognize their employees. The leader will provide the recognition note and $10 dollar gift card to the employee through Tango. The employee will receive the recognition via email and can then select the gift card of their choice.

      Home Office Employees
A budget is determined each year by the department leader that includes an allocation for employee recognition. People leaders should contact their department leader with questions on usage of funds related to recognition.

    Tier 3
We like to celebrate our success, milestones, and holidays at KBP, and most of the time celebrations are department, region/market, or brand specific. This form of recognition is an important aspect of the culture at KBP.

      Region Events and Holiday Parties
Each regional leader in the field, and department leader in the home office, will have an amount budgeted for up to two events per year. These budgets will be set and revisited annually.

      Holiday Gifts
Each year a budget will be provided to purchase gifts for field leaders. Regional Leaders are responsible for planning and coordinating with the KBP Events Manager or brand Executive Assistants to select and purchase holiday gifts. For home office the KBP Events Manager works with the KBP Sr. Leadership team.

    Tier 4
Company-wide recognition is the most powerful and unique recognition KBP provides. This is limited to the top 10% of the company, has very high visibility and is an important aspect of KBPs culture.
      Top 10 Annual Trip
KBP may provide an annual trip to field employees that perform within the Top 10% of the organization. If employees are permitted to bring a guest, they will be required to provide a description of the relationship (current/past KBP employee, friend, or family); KBP reserves the right to decline guests should it be in the best interest of the company. Extensions of invitations to an employee’s supervisor or subordinate are not permitted. If two recipients are involved in a romantic relationship, they will not be permitted to bring additional guests. All loyalty points will be designated to KBP, not the individual. If a winning recipient is unable to attend, an alternate trip is not provided.
Taxation
It is also understood that during employment with KBP, employees may receive cash, cash equivalents, gifts or prizes through company sponsored events or rewards and recognition programs. Should the value of these items be greater than or equal to $25, the value of these items is considered compensation and is subject to federal, state and employment tax withholding, and reporting on Form W-2. When an employee receives these items from KBP, the employee will be taxed at their current rate, based on the value of the item, on the next scheduled pay period, unless otherwise absorbed by the company.

Policy Statement
KBP Brands is a highly collaborative workplace where we work hard to provide a dynamic environment for employees. Working onsite creates a connected culture where employees can build strong relationships, partner to drive innovation and results, and participate in learning activities that can accelerate professional development. While work performed at KBP’s Home Office worksite is encouraged, at times a hybrid work arrangement may create advantages for both KBP and its employees. Such advantages may include increased productivity and performance, enhanced employee recruitment and retention, greater work-life harmony, and increased job satisfaction.
